Frequently asked questions
Which storage providers can I import from?
Bring files from Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Google Cloud Storage, Azure, SFTP, and other supported sources. Each provider has its own import Robot and configuration. Find your storage integration.
Can I import a file from a URL?
Yes. Use the HTTP import Robot for files reachable over HTTP or HTTPS. You can configure request headers when the source requires them. See HTTP import options.
How do I give Transloadit access to private files?
Save the provider credentials as Template Credentials and reference them in your import step. Grant only the permissions your workflow needs; users do not need to see those credentials. Learn about Template Credentials.
Can I import folders or an existing library?
Yes, supported import Robots can select multiple files using paths or prefixes. Selection and recursion options vary by provider. Use batch processing for larger existing collections. Explore batch processing.
Can imported files be processed automatically?
Yes. Connect the import step to image resizing, audio or video encoding, document conversion, or other Robots. Add an export step to save the results, all in one Assembly. Learn how processing workflows fit together.
Does importing remove the original files?
Importing reads source files for processing. It does not perform a storage migration’s deletion or cutover for you. Keep your originals until you have verified the exported results. See an S3 import example.
How can I estimate and control costs?
Rates vary by operation and usage. A soft bill limit sends alerts; once a hard limit is reached, new Assemblies are rejected. For larger workloads, ask about volume pricing and capacity for your imports. Estimate your workflow costs.
