When should a store preprocess media instead of using on-demand delivery?
Preprocess derivatives that must exist before publication, require human approval, or must be exported and retained as immutable catalog outputs. Use on-demand delivery for a bounded set of presentation variants when cold-miss latency is acceptable and demand is difficult to predict. Many commerce systems use both paths.
